So we have a thread for TV, a thread for music, and even a thread for Minecraft, but nobody has though to start one about video games. This makes me sad (well no more sad than I am already, lol).

Anyways, what have you all be playing video game wise lately? Personally I've been enjoying a bit of the always fun Katamari Damacy, its such a fun game yet now I've beaten it so I have to find something else to play. Next up I'm thinking either Okami or one of the Ratchet and Clank games.

In addition, I want to give a mention to my favourite game of last year, Sonic generations. That game was just awesome, seriously the most fun I've had playing a Sonic game since the Mega Drive/Genesis games. I cant' seem to beat the final boss though, I always run out of rings Sad.

Anyways, discuss away.

I'll join in to get the thread going a bit.

My favourite games are the Broken Sword series, but I also love the Final Fantasy games, the Professor Layton games and the Sims.

Oh, and even though I can only play it at my boyfriend's house, I'm obsessed with Borderlands for Xbox. It's just such a great game!

I think I just like being in control of a character Laughing

I like really, really old video games. Things like Galaga, Space Invaders, Pac Man etc.

I'm addicted to Team Fortress 2, and I love watching gameplays of pretty much any Valve game.
Nintendo's still my favorite gaming company, because I grew up addicted to watching people play Super Mario games, but Valve is close... gotta love those Portal 2 gameplays.
Anyone else realize that when it comes to making sequels of their games, Valve can't count to 3?

I actually have an old fashioned arcade machine at home with hundreds of old school games on it.

I spend more time and funds than I should on video games. Been playing through the Sly Cooper Collection recently. Reminds me of a mix of the original Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon games, both of which I'm a big fan of.

And I also feel that Sonic Generations and Sonic Colours are both amazing video games, given the fact that the Sonic the Hedgehog series was pretty much crap before throughout the 2000s.

I also consider myself to be a retro gamer. I just like seeing what the NES-era stuff was capable of.

I will even go so far as to say that Mike Tyson's Punch-Out is my all-time favourite video game. However, the 2009 Wii version was amazing. I had such high expectations for it, and was still not disappointed.

I'll also say that the Mortal Kombat series holds a place in my heart. Too many memories as a kid, playing 8-bit versions of the originals, on the Sega Game Gear. The 2011 game was a terrific entry to the series.

I'm on the PS3 as evildevil97, and I also have a Wii and 3DS.

....Kind of a bunch of unrelated thoughts there...

We have a Wii, and my daughter has a 3DS, though she plays them mostly. I have a GameBoy Advance.

NFS: Hot Pursuit and Halo 2 on Xbox, plus loads of minigames on my phone. I do like to play germ buster (off Brain Training) on DS when I can find it, I've last seen it about 2 months or so ago. Kids go on the Wii, I'm rubbish with the controllers so hardly ever on it.

I used to like the Sims 3. But I think it's VERY VERY unrealistic. Nothing like life at all. In fact, I think Deus Ex has a better representation of life in it. It's a real social game where what you do matters.

I've just started playing Resident Evil 5 with my Dad. It's a lot of fun. And I like that we're playing together.

I just got The Saboteur for PC. The graphics are sub-par, but it's good to have a stealth game.

I'm more of an old-school gamer. Nothing before NES though, that was before my time. I first played the NES when I was 3, and later moved onto the Super Nintendo. To this day, those are still my 2 favorite systems. They have the largest collection of the kind of games I love. I prefer 2D games over 3D, most of the time. Most games just didn't transition into 3D well for me. Games like Metroid, Castlevania, Donkey Kong, Final Fantasy, I much prefer the older 2D versions. Mario is about the only franchise that I like both the 2D and 3D games. I've always been mostly a Nintendo fan, the Wii is my favorite of the current-gen systems. The only non-Nintendo current-gen game I really enjoy is Halo. I've just always loved that game, I'm a sucker for the sci-fi-kill-aliens-to-save-the-world plot, plus the multiplayer is awesome. Other than Halo though, I play 2D XBLA games, Wii games, or older stuff. I've also always been a big fan of Nintendo's handhelds, and logged tons of hours on GB/GBC/GBA/DS. Some of my favorite older games are:

The Legend of Zelda is my favorite franchise. My favorites from the series are the Original, Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages/Seasons, and Minish Cap. I hate the DS Zelda titles simply because they force you to use touch-controls only, which is completely unnecessary and not fun. I'm also not a fan of the cartoon graphics and giant boring worlds that you explore via vehicle, from Wind Waker and the DS titles. For console, I prefer the realistic graphics that OoT and TP had, and I hope the WiiU has an HD Zelda game like that. For Handheld, I prefer 2D overhead gameplay (even 2 1/2 D is fine), just no forced touch controls or giant boring water worlds please.

Super Mario Bros (1, 3, World, 64, Galaxy, plus the "New" series)
Final Fantasy IV V and VI
Secret of mana
Mario Kart 64, DD, and Wii (if I had to choose a favorite it would be DD, but all 3 are very close and excellent games)
Chrono Trigger
Blaster Master (kind of a lesser known NES game, but it's excellent, one of my all-time favorites)
Donkey Kong Country 1 2 and 3 (still haven't gotten to play Returns on the Wii)
Metroid Super, Fusion, and Zero Mission
Castlevania (pretty much ALL of the 2D titles, of which there are several, at least 14 off the top of my head)
Contra 1 2 and 3
Illusion of Gaia
Final Fantasy Adventure
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1 2 3 and 4
U. N. Squadron
Gradius (all)
Super Smash TV
Banjo Kazooie/Tooie
Goldeney 007

I'm looking forward to the WiiU and I've been liking that 2D games have been making a bit of a comeback. Hoping for a new 2D Metroid sometime soon, there aren't that many to choose from.

I've really been wanting to buy some PC games but the only working computer that will allow all the graphics and stuff is my laptop. And my laptop disk reader is broken, so I can't buy anymore PC games unless I buy a new computer which won't happen for a few years lol.
I've also been wanting to buy some new Xbox games but every new game is VERY expensive. $60..... 0.o I could use my money to buy some more important lol

Surely you can just download the games and run them on a virtual drive and then buy them later

Wow, that steam sale looks AMAZING! Too bad I don't have any money!! I don't think I should be asking my parents to buy me these games no matter how cheap they are when I'm already asking them to buy me a $1200 portable gaming laptop (Super powerful btw).
