Anyone else here a fan of animated comedy shows? As you may have guessed from my avatar, I'm a huge Futurama fan. I also love The Simposns, though I must admit they're not what they once were. The earlier episodes were simply brilliant, and I find situations in every day life that all too easily remind me of quotes from The Simpsons. I'm not, however, a huge fan of Family Guy or the other related shows. Sometimes they're very funny, other times they're just a little too gross for my taste.

I love animated comedy. The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, etc are obvious choices, and shows I'm a big fan of, but personally I'm a bigger fan of stuff from Adult Swim like Space Ghost, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman, etc. And I'm also happy to admit I like stuff that was aimed at a younger audience, especially Cartoon network and Nickeldean shows from the 90's, e.g. Cow and Chicken, Dexters laboratory, Rocko's Modern Life, Ren and Stimpy, etc.

And of course, Animaniacs Very Happy

The original Ren & Stimpy, with John K at the helm, were brilliant. Of those 90s Nick cartoons I also really enjoyed Rocko's Modern Life and Aaah! Real Monsters. Gotta love Harvey Birdman too. I have all the Harvey Birdman on DVD. That one's especially funny to me as I grew up with all the Hanna Barbera cartoons they reference in it.

I liked Rocko's Modern Life. I watched Ren and Stimpy too (and now, re-watching the episodes on Youtube, I can name all of the classical music pieces they have in the background. Smile )

I've never watched Family Guy or Futurama, but I believe we have some DVDs of it.

I like South Park but haven't watched it in a while.

Sounds like me. Four years ago, it was all I talked about. I watched the entirety of the first eleven seasons. By the time it got to the twelfth, I kept forgetting to watch, and then I eventually stopped.

I love animated comedy.
It provides an extra comedic aspect, in that there are essentially no boundaries. For example, in Futurama, having all of the aliens there, and having Fry's hand being cut off, etc. That's a lot harder in live-action television.

Early Simpsons are brilliant, I can't stand to watch the new ones.
Futurama is excellent. Old and new.
I also like South Park, Archer, some Family Guy and American Dad, and plenty of kids' shows, such as Animaniacs.

I still find, in the later series, there are one or two gems for every five or six ordinary ones. Not a great strike rate, I know, but it's enough to keep me interested.

Animated comedy is generally funnier than live action. With situation comedy, I can only name a single live action show I think is funny. I'm a fan of American Dad and Family Guy, as well as the first decade of The Simpsons. I also like Drawn Together, but that's probably the dirtiest thing I've ever liked.

Futurama can be brilliant, but there's something about it that prevented me from ever getting too into it. And South Park just stopped being funny when I grew out of its humour style. I honestly dont know why I fell for Drawn Together, though. It was so much filthier.

And despite my love for Family Guy and American Dad, I just cant get into The Cleveland Show.

It was only short lived, but I really liked a show called "The Oblongs".

I just find that the new episodes very often make some very stupid jokes, and they don't make me feel like I'm watching Simpsons. I do find some of the jokes mildly entertaining, but from what I've seen, there are so many stupid jokes that I can barely laugh when there is actually a good joke.
I guess I could say that I find them to be quite dumbening.

I am glad that you can still enjoy them though.

I saw the Oblongs for a little while. The main character had no limbs right?

A show about a character with no limbs sounds intriguing. I'd like to see that.
