My favourite kinds of music are classical, jazz, rock, and folk music.

What kinds of music do you like?

I love 60's and 70's music. Certain 80's pop is okay, but a lot of it is annoying. I like rock, but I actually don't like a lot of rock bands. I don't really like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, or a few others. I cannot stand modern music, however I will listen to the band Maroon 5.

These are my favorite artists:
-The Rolling Stones
-Mick Jagger
-The Beatles
-George Harrison
-John Lennon
-Michael Jackson/The Jackson 5
-Whitney Houston
-Chicago
-Stevie Wonder
-Journey
-Prince
-The Bee Gees
-Hall & Oates
-Elvis Costello

I was also in band for eight years and I played the trumpet so I know some concert music type stuff. I took piano for many years but like my mom warned me I would regret quitting and I do now. I love music, though.

I like all kinds of music, really. I love gospel music - I sing in a gospel choir. But my music collection has everything from bubblegum pop to classical to old rock, disco, R&B, rock, jazz - you name it, I have it.

My favourite band of all time is The Police, and I love Sting. Also love Stevie Wonder, U2, Elton John, Seal and Josh Groban. I tend to gravitate towards musicians that can tell a story with their music or their voices.

I like lots of music except metal...and the like...

Of Contemporary, I like the classics (I really don't know the genre)
I like Blues, and most of the music from the Romantic Period.

By the way, I decided against having a poll for this topic, because it seems that many people like multiple genres of music.

I listen mostly to rock/pop, but I also love classical and jazz music (I just don't have as much of it in my collection). Within the rock world I am particularly fond of Progressive Rock (prog!) and New Wave. Early 80s New Wave is what I first started listening to as a child and I still have a soft spot for it. I also love folk music. My dad was in a folk band for many years before and during my childhood.

I never used to be a big music fan, but lately I've been really getting back into music and loving it. I'll listen to anything really, but here are some of my favourite bands/singers-

Queen
Michael Jackson
Bon Jovi
Aerosmith
Guns N'Roses
The Prodigy
Nirvana
Blur
Pulp
Chris Cornell

Amongst others, I mean I could go on listing stuff all day, but i don't want to bore you guys any more than I do already, lol.

I don't think you're boring. Smile
And I do't find music a boring topic, either, but I'm a musician, so maybe I'm biased. Wink

Let's see...rock, folk, jazz, some electronic stuff, some alternative stuff.

I love the music of the 60s, by which I mean the rock and the pop from that time.
There's some amazing stuff in the 70s and 80s.
Not a huge fan of the 90s and 00s music-wise, but there's been some very good stuff.

I love things like folk-rock, and instrumental-rock too, but they're kind of just variations of rock and folk, nevertheless, I thought it to be worth mentioning them.

Oh, and I also like some classical music, but mainly the ones you might hear in a Looney Tunes cartoon, if you know what I mean.

I like a fair bit of music from the 90s, 00s and now, but it is generally not the stuff that made the singles charts or got played on the radio. But, to me, the 60s to the mid 80s were a golden period for pop/rock music.

I agree, definitely not the charted stuff, I hate listening to the radio (to be fair, my local radio station isn't too bad, but I can barely stand to listen to it anyway).

The 'current' music that I listen to is mainly by artists from the 60s, 70s and 80s - I'm listening to some new enough Paul McCartney right now - but I've also recently been listening to some new bands, e.g. Fleet Foxes, Fred, And So I Watch You From Afar, Mumford & Sons, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
Quite a few of the bands that I've been listening to are Irish, and do get played on the radio here a good bit though.

I listen to the radio, but usually not music stations. There's the local rock station, but they always play the same songs. I invented a drinking game for it.

I don't listen to the radio anymore, so it's pretty much whatever I stumble upon on the web.
Oh yeah, and classical. Some good s%#& right there.

I hardly listen to the radio anymore. I rather listen to specialized internet radio stations than top 40 on-air stations.

I think every decade has its good stuff and its questionable stuff. Every generation has its Beatles and its Justin Bieber.

I'm into harder stuff. Metal, punk, post-hardcore. I like a lot of other stuff too, like Queen, Irish folk, and some Australian folk-rock bands like Women in Docs and Weddings, Parties, Anything.
But '90s punk rock will always be my favourite. I especially love the punk scene in the East Bay, California. Bands like Green Day, NOFX, the Offspring, Rancid, Operation Ivy, Dropkick Murphys, Bikini Kill.

I like rock music. Cool

If I have to single out my favourite artists, then here's what I'd say...

Pink Floyd
Genesis
Queen
Deep Purple
Rainbow
Journey
Def Leppard
Eagles
Guns 'n' Roses (even though I loathe Axl Rose - I listen for Slash! Cool )
Joy Division/New Order
The Cure
REM
U2
Oasis
Foo Fighters

60's and 70's rock and roll
Some 80's Kokomo is my second favorite song of all time.
Gospel
Country
Christian music.

I will listen to nearly everything but hip hop and rap. I try to avoid those two as much as possible.

I absolutely love Motown. Earth, Wind & Fire, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder. And 70's music. Elton John, The Bee Gees, Chicago. Music was great in my mom's generation. And I love rock music and some pop. Can't stand country, hip hop, rap or any modern music.

I'm a music mongrel. I love all kinds of music, so I'm like a mutt. But mostly I center around rock and I like classic rock. I've recently gotten into Golden Earring. It's upsetting that they aren't as big here in the states as they should be. They're a great band still making music together after all these years.
