Did a google search looking for something, and came across this:

http://www.chortle.co.uk/news/2014/05/11/20163/whose_line_is_it_anyway%3F_to_return

Makes me jealous. One Clive quote on the page is interesting, regarding the rebooted US series.

Quote:
[Aisha Tyler is] unforgivably beautiful, a break with tradition if I maybe be disrespectful to Drew and myself. We were available for jokes about ourselves, so I don't know how they cope with having an attractive hostess.

Some former Whose Line stars are not happy about these shows, but they're more than happy to air their views on Twitter...

Steve Steen (@sirsteen):
Quote:
Whose Line is it Anyway west end show- 54 . Longest running Impro team in the world, Comedy Store-17/12 concessions. Up to you.

Mike McShane (@thismikemcshane)
Quote:
@sirsteen Players don't need no director, either. Frankly, the other guys don't, but they got one..no, two. Good luck with that bullshit.

That's unfortunate. While I see what they're getting at regards having a director on the stage show, I think a huge part of it is nostalgia for the UK WLiiA. Though what do I know? I'm in America, and have seen neither of those shows. Seeing the Comedy Store Players is definitely on my bucket list though.

Regarding those Twitter comments; I expect they're just jealous to be honest.

I went to the Whose Line live show last Sunday and it was truly fantastic. In fact, it was so good I actually can't think of anything that would've improved it. Clive was clearly thrilled to be back behind the desk after 16 years. There were a great selection of games, superb line-up, no celebrity guests, no adverts, no censors, just pure hilarity for 2 hours. As a lifelong Whose Line fan, it was one of the best days of my life definitely.

As an American who is unlikely going to be able to see it, could you let us know what old games they play on that show?

Here's a list of the games I remember. It was all the popular games really, nothing unusual.

Questions only
Film, theatre and television styles
Song styles (Josie on her own)
Song styles (Brad with an audience member)
Sound effects
Foreign film dub
Three-headed broadway star
World's worst
Doo-wop
Moving people
90 second alphabet
Irish drinking song
Living scenery
Hollywood director
Stand, sit and bend
Whose line
What's in the bag
Party quirks
Greatest hits
Musical about an audience member

Then for an encore Clive asked the audience what game they would like to see and everyone shouted Hoedown, which they did. Colin wasn't impressed. Laughing

Interesting. Now bring that quartet to a televised show.

Who does the music for the live show?

Went to see it for a second time on Thursday. Almost the same set of games as before, except they'd swapped out World's Worst and Doo-Wop for Freeze Tag and Kick It. Also met Colin and Brad after the show. They came out the stage door and personally thanked everybody for coming. Such nice guys.

I have to say the response to these live shows has been really, really superb. It's been packed out every night and has had raving reviews. I'd be very surprised if they didn't bring it back in the future or even do a US live show.

Clive's presence makes me think it's unlikely to come stateside as it is. Though I really want him to stay a part of it when it comes to that. And I'm surprised Laura and Linda are part of it. I would've expected some British improv musician (who I would've never heard of).

Um. So, I stumbled across audio files of two complete shows from the 2014 run, with Steve Frost, Greg Proops, Josie Lawrence, and a non Whose Line rotated fourth. (Ruth Bratt and Phill Jupitus.) Fucking bartender!

Also of note: Philip Pope did the music here. He is probably best known to the WLiiA community as the man who composed the UK theme.

Nice to hear that Chip Esten is still involved with Whose Line! I wish he would return to the show though.
